Unforgettable Absences

In the depths of my being, their essence remains,

Every detail absorbed, right there in my head.

Their favorite color, a canvas so bright,

Their truest expression, a source of delight.

I witnessed their joy in their favourite show,

Their laughter and tears, a captivating flow.

Their unique way of eating, a dance of delight,

Each bite, a story, an appetite's height.

And oh, their face when displeasure arose,

A vivid display, a moment of prose.

But now they are gone, no longer here,

Yet their presence lingers, oh so clear.

All that I know, it haunts me each day,

Knowing them deeply, but they're far away.

To hold such knowledge, yet feel so alone,

A bittersweet ache that I cannot disown.

Their absence, a weight upon my soul,

A longing that gnaws, takes its toll.

For all that I've gathered, every memory shared,

Seems useless now, as if no one cared.

Oh, rid me of this burden, set me free,

Release me from this agony that won't let me be.

My storage is full, I've reached my limit,

I beg you, relieve me from this painful visit.

But alas, the memories cling with might,

Like ghosts in the dark, they refuse to take flight.

For I've known them wholly, in heart and in mind,

And letting go feels like leaving love behind.

So I'll learn to make peace with this ache,

Embrace the remnants, the love that won't break.

For though they are gone, their spirit holds true,

And in knowing them fully, I've grown, too.

I'll carry their essence, their light deep within,

Finding solace in memories, where love has been.

Though it hurts to remember what's no longer here,

I'll cherish the knowing, for it once brought me near.

Understanding the Role of Gold Reserves and Fiat Currency in the Nepali Economy

1) Does Nepal government or the central bank need to have gold reserves for every unit of money they print ?

No, the Nepali government is not required to have gold reserves for every unit of money they print. The Nepali currency, the Nepalese Rupee, is a fiat currency, which means that its value is not directly linked to the value of any physical commodity, such as #gold or #silver.

Instead, the value of the Nepalese Rupee is based on a combination of factors such as the strength of the economy, inflation rate, interest rates, and foreign exchange rates.

The Nepal Rastra Bank, as the central bank of Nepal, is responsible for managing the money supply and ensuring that the value of the currency remains stable.

However, it is worth noting that having gold reserves can be seen as a way to back the currency and provide confidence to the public in the stability of the currency. Many countries do hold gold reserves as a hedge against economic uncertainties or as a means to facilitate international trade.

The United States has the largest gold reserve, with more than 8,133.5 metric tons of gold. This was more than twice the gold reserves of Germany and more than three times the gold reserves of Italy and France. While Nepal has a gold reserve of 7.99 tonnes.

Despite having a massive gold stockpile, the United States is experiencing significant inflation. The #US government ceased pegging the #USD to gold in 1971 and began printing money at will, resulting in the current problem, but inflation is caused by a variety of variables

Nonetheless, it is not a requirement for a country to have gold reserves to print money.

2) Can Nepali government print as much money as they like ?

No, the Nepali government cannot simply print as much money as they like without facing potential consequences such as inflation, economic instability, and loss of trust in the currency.

Printing money without an increase in goods and services leads to inflation, which can decrease the currency's value and hurt the economy.

How Meter Byaj (Meter Loan) is calculated

You may have heard of meter byaj. Here's how it's calculated:

Meter loans are a type of short-term loan where the lenders may choose to express the interest rate on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, depending on their preferred method of calculation.

If someone takes out a loan of Rs 100,000 with a monthly interest rate of 3%, they will be required to pay Rs 3,000 in interest.

If the borrower does not pay the interest for a year, the total amount owed for the meter byaj will be Rs 36,000 (12 x 3,000), which equates to a 36% annual interest rate. This would be added to the original loan amount of Rs 100,000, making the total amount to be paid Rs 136,000.

While banks only charge an annual interest rate of 15%-18%. However, they do not make loans available to the general public in this manner. There is a lot of paperwork and collateral that must be shown, so the average person cannot get a loan when they are in need.

Again as per meter byaj, if the borrower still does not pay, the interest would continue to compound on the new principal amount of Rs 136,000. Assuming the borrower does not make any payments towards the loan, the interest for the next year would be calculated on the new principal amount of Rs 136,000 at the rate of 36% per annum, which would be Rs 48,960 (36% of 136,000).

The advantage of a meter loan is that it provides short-term financing for those who need it quickly. However, the interest rates on these types of loans can get high, and borrowers should carefully consider the terms and conditions before taking out a meter loan.

From Himalayan Mountains to Global Markets: The Rise of Chhurpi - Nepal's Popular Hard Cheese

Chhurpi, a traditional hard cheese produced in Nepal's mountainous regions, has gained immense popularity in recent years as an export product. The cheese is made from milk obtained from yaks, chauris, cows, and buffaloes, and is available in both hard and soft forms. Hard Chhurpi has become particularly popular as a long-lasting dog chew, with the demand for it surging in recent years, especially in the US market.

In the last five fiscal years, Nepal has seen a 291% growth in Chhurpi exports, with the export value reaching Rs. 2.91 billion last fiscal year. The US market accounts for the majority of Chhurpi exports, with exports worth Rs. 1.14 billion in the last six months alone. However, the industry faces several challenges, including a lack of storage and transportation facilities, restrictions on animal health and breed improvement, and a lack of technical expertise.

To improve the industry, the Nepalese government can introduce FMD-free zones in production centers and offer financial aid to farmers and business owners in the form of government subsidies. Additionally, quality improvements to Chhurpi and e-commerce trade can help increase sales on international markets. Despite the challenges, the growing demand for Chhurpi has created a lucrative export opportunity for Nepal, and with the right support, the industry can continue to grow and with the right support, the industry can continue to grow and thrive.
